Chaplains

As Highland Police Chaplains, we assist the department with making injury or death notifications.  We will visit sick or injured officers and department personnel. We are available to counsel officers and their families. We participate in public ceremonies.  We are available to the department 24 hours a day.  We are members of the International Conference of Police Chaplains.

In Memory of Chaplain
     Father Francis Lazar
Aug. 24, 1934 - Dec. 1, 2007

Father Francis Lazar has been both a spiritual advisor and friend to law enforcement throughout the state and more specifically Lake County.  During his tenure as a police chaplain, a position he held here in Highland for over 30 years, Father Lazar was always willing and able to assist and provide guidance whenever called upon.  Father Lazar went above and beyond the call of duty, providing solace to law enforcement professionals, their families, and victims alike.  In addition to assisting these individuals, he also mentored prospective police chaplains throughout the area to ensure they were properly trained and made well aware of their duties and commitment.  He will be sorely missed and not easily replaced.
