MEMBERSHIP

 

  

1.                 Membership is limited to young men and women between the ages of 16 and 20.

 

2.                 Applicants must complete the application, pass a background investigation and oral interview.  The application will be submitted to the post along with the appropriate registration fee.  The annual registration fee shall be the sum set by the Boy Scouts of America.

 

3.                 All applicants shall read the entire post manual before they are accepted into membership, and shall realize that acceptance of the membership shall also be his/her oath to follow the rules set forth by the Lake Suburban Explorer Post #911.

 

4.                 Applicants will not be considered if they have a felony criminal record.  Applicants with a misdemeanor criminal record may still be considered for membership and may be accepted after a thorough review by the Post Advisors.

 

5.                 Applicants will be voted into membership by a two-thirds majority vote at the first meeting following completion of the application, background investigation and interview.  Negative votes shall include a valid reason for disqualifying the applicant.  Votes not containing a valid reason will be disqualified.  The applicant shall not be present during the voting.

 

6.                 Members must maintain a grade average of C.

 

7.                 Members must maintain a good moral character and clean record.

 

8.                 Members must maintain an appearance and demeanor, which is explained in the Rules and Regulations. 

 

9.                 Members must be of sound health and possess no deficiency in their physical condition, which would deter them from a law enforcement career.
