OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE
 

 

OBJECTIVES:

 

1.   To further the Explorer's education

2.   To encourage participation in a rewarding and                  productive service activity

3.   To enhance preparation for further roles as citizens               and community members

4.   To provide in-depth, firsthand experience into the             fields of law enforcement and criminal justice by the              utilization of classroom presentations, practical field        exercises, and other training aids.

 

PURPOSE:

The purpose of Law Enforcement Exploring is to educate and involve youth in police operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers and to build mutual understanding.  The education aspect provides knowledge of the law enforcement function in one’s community whether one enters the field of law enforcement as a career or not.  Through involvement, the Explorer program establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service.  While police personnel remain the key to success, other reliable citizens can also become involved in the exploring program.

 

The Explorer program will:

1.   Assist the membership in understanding the                     workings of the Lake Suburban Post#911 and its                 goals and objectives.

2.   Encourage them to pursue a criminal justice                         career.

3.   Assist the Police Department’s in any way                      possible to maintain public safety and well being             of the Tri-Town, Indiana community.

4.   Expose the members to new experiences, knowledge                    and skills at the same time stressing the                      importance of discipline and the acceptance of                 responsibility.

5.   Maintain a continuing objective for practical                  experience, knowledge, skill and over-all maturing            effect for individuals in the Explorer program.

6.   Strive to serve the citizens of Tri-Town, Indiana by participating in Crime Prevention programs along with any programs that are neighborhood based and have the objective of a safer community.
