Highland's Speed Control Sign
The speed control sign is here to help aid in traffic control
Despite speed limits, some motorists fail to pay
attention to how fast they're traveling. Such drivers present a hazard
to other motorists. The Highland Police Department notes that school
zones, bus routes and construction sites require special attention in
promoting voluntary compliance with speed limits.
We now have a portable sign designed to be put into your
neighborhood to help fight speeding vehicles by showing motorist how
fast they are traveling in an effort to slow them down.
See our on-line application to apply for the sign to be
put in your neighborhood. It just takes a few minutes to fill out the
request form and a reply will be sent to you when the sign will be put
in your requested location.
We can all help in controlling speeding vehicles and
keeping our neighborhoods free from accidents and other speed related
incidents. Please request the sign today on line or stop into the police
department and pick up an application.
The Highland Police Department launched a new initiative on March 12th
which centers on traffic enforcement. The unit is specifically designed
to respond to traffic complaints in neighborhoods where residents are
experiencing a problem with motorists committing a variety of
infractions not limited to but including; speed infractions, stop sign
violations, traffic light violations, violations of the noise ordinance
(boom boxes from vehicles), etc. The unit will also be responsible for
handling traffic accidents.
Residents may request the unit in their neighborhood by emailing Officer
Glenn Cox at, gcox@highland.in.gov
or calling and leaving a message at 838-3184 x4093. A response to the
resident, if they so wish, will inform them of the action taken during
the period of enforcement. Residents may also visit our website
www.highlandpolice.com or contact Officer Cox should they wish placement
of the Digital Speed Control sign in their neighborhood.
